Apple has unveiled a new feature called Adaptive Audio for its AirPods Pro a new AirPods Pro. This technology combines active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode to provide users with an optimized listening experience.
Intelligent switching between noise cancellation and transparency
Adaptive Audio enables dynamic switching between ANC and transparency mode, depending on ambient noise. The goal is to minimize distracting sounds while still being able to perceive important ambient sounds. An additional feature called “conversation detection” automatically activates transparency mode and reduces the volume of music playback when a conversation is detected.
Call Improvements
For phone calls, Adaptive Audio automatically suppresses loud ambient noise to ensure clear communication. According to Apple, ambient noise filtering has been significantly improved. In addition, users can mute the microphone via the earpiece during a call.
Personalized volume and faster device switching
Another feature, “Personalized Volume,” uses machine learning to analyze the user’s listening habits and environmental conditions over time and adjust media playback accordingly. In addition, automatic switching between devices with AirPods is expected to be faster in the future.
Availability of the update
The free update for AirPods is expected to be available this fall along with the release of iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and tvOS 17. A developer beta is already available to members of the Apple Developer Program. It should be noted that only the AirPods Pro, which offer both ANC and transparency mode, will benefit from these new features. However, the microphone mute feature will be available for the 1st and 2nd generation AirPods Pro, 3rd generation AirPods and AirPods Max.
