The audio experts at Audio-Technica have introduced an exciting new USB microphone. The Audio-Technica AT2020USB-X is a new edition of the popular AT2020USB+. It relies on a cardioid pickup pattern and is aimed primarily at podcasters, streamers and other creative types.
Audio-Technica AT2020USB-X in detail
Weighing 373 grams, the Audio-Technica AT2020USB-X connects via a USB-C port and aims to impress above all in terms of sound quality. Inside works a high-resolution A/D converter with sampling rates up to 24 bit / 96 kHz, which is supposed to provide an extremely clean, natural audio reproduction.
An integrated headphone amplifier with high output power realizes a particularly clean, detailed sound and a higher overall volume.
The microphone is 142 mm long and 52 mm in diameter, and also features a 3.5 mm stereo jack connector including a volume control for monitoring the microphone signal without latency.
LED indicator and mix control
Also offered is a dual-state LED indicator that illuminates when USB power is applied and glows when the microphone is muted. A capacitive soft-touch mute button is integrated directly into the case. It allows for silent muting directly on the microphone.
There is also a special stand directly in the scope of delivery, which is supposed to provide a secure and stable hold. Using the mix control, the microphone signal can also be mixed directly with the audio material on the PC or notebook.
Thanks to its cardioid polar pattern, the microphone can be optimally aimed at a speaker’s voice or another sound source, while plug-and-play connectivity means the AT2020USB-X is ready for immediate use without the need for additional software.
The package also includes a 3/8″-16 to 5/8″-27 thread adapter, the table stand, and a USB cable (2.0m, USB C to USB A, with USB A to USB C adapter). Other accessories should also be available separately, but the manufacturer did not reveal what they are.
