Austrian Audio PB17: New business headset officially presented

After the excellent PG16 gaming headset (our review), the Austrians from Austrian Audio are following up and presenting the Austrian Audio PB17, a new headset for business users that is also supposed to be suitable for gaming.

Officially, the Austrian Audio PB17 is aimed at business users and was developed on the basis of the popular Hi-X15. Visually, the headset is a classy black with gray accents and offers a clear audio quality that is supposed to convince especially in online meetings.

Acoustically, the PB17 should also have a lot to offer, because the manufacturer again uses the 44mm Hi-X drivers, which already provided excellent acoustics in the PG16 gaming headset and which also scores in the recording studio with a crystal-clear, high-resolution sound with perfect spatiality.

It covers a comparatively high frequency range of 12 Hz to 24,000 Hz at an impedance of 25 ohms. The PB17 shares both specifications with the slightly more expensive PG16 gaming headset, but you have to do without virtual surround sound.

Microphone and comfort

Due to the closed acoustics of the headset, ambient noise is efficiently shielded. In addition to the clear sound, the microphone also has a lot to offer and is equipped with a convenient tilt-to-mute function for quick muting and omnidirectional polar pattern for extra natural sound.

The padded headband and hinges are made of metal to guarantee a robust and durable headset. The ear pads made of special “Slow Retention” memory foam also ensure a comfortable fit, regardless of head shape and size.

Weighing just 265 grams, the headset is the unobtrusive companion for the home office. The Austrian Audio PB17 is also compatible with current consoles around PS4, PS5 and Xbox (controllers with TRRS jack). Thanks to the included 3.5mm to USB adapter, the headset can be easily connected to various audio sources.
