Alienware makes gamers’ hearts beat faster at CES in Las Vegas year after year. It doesn’t look any different in 2023. In addition to powerful gaming notebooks, the company also has a suitable addition to the desktop PC at home up its sleeve. Thus, Dell’s gaming brand has presented the Alienware AW2524H, a gaming monitor that wants to convince with an impressive 500 Hz maximum refresh rate, among other things.
Alienware AW2524H enables overclocking up to 500 Hz
With its Alienware AW2524H, Dell’s gaming brand breaks the magic sound barrier of 500 Hz for the first time. Strictly speaking, the gaming display “only” offers 480 Hz. However, the refresh rate can probably be increased to 500 Hz by overclocking. If this feature is important to you, you are limited when connecting the source device. You can probably only enjoy the blazing fast refresh rate via DisplayPort. While we are on the subject of connections. Alternatively, the Alienware AW2524H offers 2x HDMI. However, the refresh rate is limited to 240 Hz, which should be sufficient for most people.
The strong Hertz number ensures that the gaming monitor is characterized by future-proofing. And that also seems to apply to the other specs. Thus, Dell speaks of the Alienware AW2524H offering a response time of 0.5 ms to 1 ms GtG. Of course, the variable refresh rate shouldn’t be missing either. After all, it will still take some time until PC hardware can handle such high refresh rates permanently without jerking. The monitor supports the common standards like HDMI VRR and Nvidia G-Sync including Reflex Analyzer. Nvidia Reflex is supposed to ensure that the latency is optimized.
Other highlights of CES 2023:
- CES 2023: Alienware m18 arrives with 18-inch display
- CES 2023: Alienware x14 R2 is thinnest gaming notebook
Alienware AW2524H only comes in Full HD resolution
Of course, the high refresh rate comes at the expense of resolution. Thus, the Alienware AW2524H comes with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD). In view of the 24.5 inch screen diagonal, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. A sharp picture should also be given here by the pixel density of 90 PPI. The coverage of the sRGB color space of 99% sounds promising, as does the maximum brightness of 400 cd/m². Dell also provides the Alienware AW2524H with ComfortView Plus to prevent eye pain during long gaming sessions.
Price and Availability
Like the majority of its other new launches, Dell is looking to launch the Alienware AW2524H before the end of the first quarter of 2023. However, the release date has only been set for the US and China so far. It is still unclear when the European market will get the high-performance gaming monitor. By the way, the same applies for the price that the manufacturer wants to charge for the flagship.
