AR Assistant app from Dell Technologies launched

Dell Technologies’ new AR Assistant app launched globally in seven languages on June 09, 2022. Available for download for free on Android and as a iOS version, it provides assistance with repair, maintenance and possible updates of various Dell devices.

The AR Assistant provides detailed step-by-step instructions and uses augmented reality to facilitate repair and update measures for over 100 Dell devices such as various systems from the Alienware (including the new m15 R7 gaming laptop), Chromebook, G Gaming, Inspiron, Latitude, OptiPlex, Precision, PowerEdge, Vostro and XPS series. Another 20 Dell systems are to be added over the summer.

With this, the manufacturer wants to make studying printed manuals obsolete and gives you a simple and versatile application for various mobile devices. This way, you can increase the lifespan of your electrical devices and perform hardware updates yourself. In addition, the AR Assistant app makes a valuable contribution to the avoidance of electronic waste in the sense of sustainable use of IT equipment.

How does the app work

Using the smartphone camera, the part of the notebook or PC that needs to be repaired or replaced can be selected within the AR Assistant app from Dell Technologies. Via augmented reality, the app then provides instructions with all the intermediate steps so that the user can carry out the maintenance himself – without any technical expertise.

From the placement of the screws to be removed, to the placement of the components, to information on how best to handle parts so as not to damage them, the app provides all the details needed to carry out a professional and safe repair and maintenance.
