Dell introduces new Latitude and Precision notebooks and towers

Manufacturer Dell has presented quite a few exciting innovations these days. From the 49-inch UltraSharp U4924DW monitor to new OptiPlex devices and the Dell Optimizer software with AI feature. However, the manufacturer also has new notebooks on offer, namely in the Latitude and Precision series.

The Dell Latitude novelties 2023: Latitude 9440 and more

Top model of the 2023 series is the Dell Latitude 9440, the flagship for business users. The noble 2-in-1 convertible gets the design of the XPS 13 Plus and comes up with a frameless keyboard and a trackpad that is only separated by the bars.

The notebook is supposed to look particularly elegant and robust with its aluminum case and graphite color scheme. At the same time, a particularly long battery life is to be offered, among other things because the energy requirement of the keyboard’s LED backlight could be reduced by up to 75 percent. The battery has a total of 60 watt hours.

We are also proud of the 14-inch InfinityEdge QHD+ display with a 16:10 format, which has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The manufacturer does not mention details about the refresh rate or brightness, but it is supposed to be particularly energy-efficient and of course feature touch functionality. Intel’s Raptor-Lake-U is used as the CPU, which is supported by up to 64 GB LPDDR5X-6400 RAM and an SSD with up to 2 TB. The latter is in M.2-2230 format and is replaceable.

Dell Latitude 7340, 7440 and 7640

In addition, the Dell Latitude 7340, 7440 and 7640 are three particularly lightweight ultrabooks that also focus on a clean business look and are made of sustainable materials. The intelligent AI tool Dell Optimizer is also already integrated in the notebooks and improves runtime, performance and audio, for example.

The Latitude 7340 and 7440 are available either as a classic notebook or as a 2-in-1 convertible, whereby the notebook variants weigh just 0.982 kg (7340) and 1.06 kg (7440), respectively. The reason is also the smaller display of the 7340, which relies on a 13.3-inch panel with QHD+ resolution, while the other variants feature a 14-inch display or even a 16-inch panel in the case of the Latitude 7640.

The manufacturer also offers different display options, at least for the laptop variants. With and without touchscreen or with FHD+ or QHD+ resolution, for example.

All three models come with the latest 13th generation Intel Core processors in the U series, although the Latitude 7440 and Latitude 7640 are also available with chips from the more powerful P series. Up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of system storage are possible.

Dell Latitude 5430 Chromebook

With the Dell Latitude 5430 Chromebook, there is also a new 2-in-1 convertible (which is also available as a classic notebook) for those who rather appreciate Google’s ChromeOS operating system. There is a choice of CPUs, including the Intel Pentium Gold 8505, Intel Core i3-1215U, Core i3-1235U, Core i5-1545U and even the Intel Core i7-1255U, which offers quite a bit of power for a Chromebook.

Up to 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM with 4800 MHz and a maximum of 512 GB M.2-2230 SSD can be configured. The convertible comes with a 14-inch display in Full-HD+ resolution (1,920 x 1080 pixels) with 60 Hz and touchscreen, and the notebook also offers a choice between a non-touch display and a QHD+ panel with 90 Hz.

Dell Precision Innovations 2023

There are even more novelties in Dell’s Precision lineup in 2023. Among them are the Precision 3480, 3580, 3581, as well as 5480 and 5680 mobile workstations. The 3 series starts at a comparatively low price and with a low weight starting at just 1.31 kg.

Modern Intel Core processors of the 13th generation are already used in the entry-level model, Precision 3480. You can choose between the Core i5-1335U or Core i7-1355U, as well as the chips from the P-series up to the Core i7-1370P – all including vPro, of course.

Up to 64 GB DDR5-4800 RAM and an up to 2 TB M.2-2230 SSD together with an NVIDIA RTX A500 graphics unit round off the equipment. The display is 14 inches and has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

The Precision 3580 even has a GeForce RTX A2000 graphics unit and an optional 97 watt-hour battery. The Precision 3581 on the other hand comes with the most powerful Intel CPUs and is equipped with the Core i9-13900H. It also offers the largest screen with a 15.6-inch display.

Dell Precision 5680 & Precision 5480

The Dell Precision 5680 and Precision 5480 mobile workstations are positioned slightly above it. The 5480 is virtually the workstation variant of the XPS 14 with its own special features. An Intel Core i9-13900H, 64 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a maximum of an NVIDIA RTX 3000 with 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM promise excellent performance, while the notebook relies on a 14-inch display that resolves in QHD+ at its peak and gets 500 nits of brightness.

Dell’s Precision 5680 is similarly equipped, but can even be optionally configured with an RTX 4000 with 12 GB VRAM or the RTX 5000 with 16 GB VRAM. It also relies on a larger 16-inch display, which is even optionally available as an OLED panel with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels. It also covers 99 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

Modern WiFi-6E, Thunderbolt 4, a fingerprint sensor and Bluetooth 5.3 are offered by both models. The Dell Precision 5680 is even optionally available with a 99.5 Wh battery, while the 5480 has to make do with 72 Wh.

Other Dell Precision innovations

If desired, the Precision 5680 is also available as a classic tower PC, where even more options are available. The Precision 7000 series has also been upgraded and comes in notebook form as the 7680 and 7780, the Precision 7960 Rack, or the Precision 7960 Tower.

Prices and Availability

All of Dell’s Latitude innovations are already available in stores. The Latitude 5430 Chromebook starts at around 820 euros. The Latitude 5340, 5440 and 5540 models start from $1,620, 73, while the 7340, 7440 and 7640 models start from $1,676.99.

Only the Dell Latitude 9440 has to wait and is supposed to be released “in the coming months”. The manufacturer has not yet announced a price for this model.
