Edifier presents many new speakers from the AirPulse range

AirPulse has presented some exciting new speakers. The subsidiary of the Edifier hi-fi company, which has made a name for itself with sound products at a great price-performance ratio, offers high-end speakers that are obviously aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts. Let’s take a look at the new products.

AirPulse A300 Pro

Top model of the newly introduced speakers is clearly the AirPulse A300 Pro. This active speaker not only wants to show off with a high build quality. On top of that, it relies on a noble look, which is further emphasized by the wood veneer. Unlike many other active systems, the stereo pair relies on a symmetrical design. This means that there is not an active and a passive part here. Each of the two speakers has the identical power supply and amplifier technology. In terms of power, the two speakers are really up to it with the 120-watt 165 mm bass-midrange driver with alumininium cone each.

In addition, each comes with a 10-watt aluminum ribbon tweeter. As befits a pair of modern speakers, AirPulse promises its A300 Pro not only great sound, but also practical connectivity. The two speakers can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX. The Kleer-Net technology is supposed to enable lossless music transmission without cables. Those who like it classically can also access optical as well as coaxial inputs or RCA AUX.

AirPulse A300

At first glance, the AirPulse A300 doesn’t exactly look like a speaker from 2022, mainly due to its retro look. But this certainly makes the A300 a real eye-catcher. The manufacturer also relies on an MDF case here, which is supposed to be resistant. AirPulse promises an equally powerful, but also detailed sound, which is to be achieved by an interaction of 165 mm woofer and ribbon tweeter with horn attachment.

Power is provided by a Class D amplifier with 70 watts and 10 watts, respectively. In terms of connectivity, there are Bluetooth 5.0 incl. aptX as well as classic cable inputs. USB, optical and coaxial digital inputs, RCA AUX and a balanced input are also part of the game.

AirPulse A200

Moving on, we come to the AirPulse A200. This one is a size smaller than the A300, yet is said to offer very good sound, which the manufacturer claims is at reference monitor level. Not only the cabinet, but also the mid-bass driver is a bit smaller than its big brother at 140 mm. The ribbon tweeter with horn attachment, however, is identical.

There’s decent oomph thanks to 55 watts and 10 watts of power from the woofer and tweeter, respectively. Connectivity, on the other hand, is just as extensive as in the A300. Besides Bluetooth 5.0 including aptX, there are also optical and coaxial digital inputs. On top of that, you can use a balanced input and an RCA AUX.

AirPulse A100

If you don’t have too much space, you might be happy with the AirPulse A100. The bookshelf speaker wants to score especially with its compact design. However, AirPulse promises not only a compact but also a handsome design. With 130 mm, the woofer here has shrunk once again compared to the A200.

Accordingly, it offers a little less power at 40 watts, but still sufficient. The ribbon tweeter with horn attachment, on the other hand, continues to offer 10 watts. The Class D amplifier, which has DSP on board, as it were, provides a performance boost. Sufficient connectivity is also provided here with Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX, RCA AUX, USB and an optical digital input.

AirPulse A80

If you want it even smaller, the AirPulse A80 might be the right solution. This is the company’s most compact active speaker. According to the manufacturer, its compact dimensions make it particularly suitable for near-field applications. The ribbon tweeter with horn attachment with an output of 10 watts is also on board in the smallest of the new AirPulse speakers.

However, the mid-woofer here measures just 115 mm and offers 40 watts. In terms of connections, even the smallest seems to be quite big. In addition to RCA AUX and USB, there is also an optical digital input and Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX.

AirPulse P100X

For those looking for a suitable speaker for their PC setup rather than the living room, AirPulse is launching its P100X. This is a wireless desktop speaker system that once again relies on the typical retro look. The driver technology looks a bit different here than in the other newcomers.

Thus, in addition to an A-blade tweeter, a 4.5-inch long-throw mid-woofer is also at work here. A digital amplifier provides the drivers with 1x 40 watts and 2x 10 watts of power. Conveniently, the speaker system can also be controlled via Bluetooth or RCA AUX connection. Especially the look reminiscent of an old transistor radio we like here really good!

Prices and availability

AirPulse’s new speakers are available for purchase in stores now. We’ve listed you the MSRPs for the various models:

The AirPulse speakers are of course anything but cheap. That Edifier can also deliver good quality at significantly lower prices, we were only allowed to check ourselves in January. Thus, we tested two really good pieces of technology with the Edifier R1700BT (test) and the Edifier R33BT (test).
