gamescom 2023: 10 percent more registrations than last year

From August 23 to 27, 2023, gaming fans will once again make the pilgrimage to Cologne to play new titles or find out about new hardware at gamescom 2023. After missing some well-known exhibitors last year, the trade fair already has 10 percent more companies registered in 2023.

Caseking was without its own booth at gamescom 2022, EA was conspicuous by its absence and Nintendo was also absent. All that is set to change with the upcoming edition of the games trade show, gamescom 2023 this August.

As the organizers have now announced in a press release, gamescom 2023 has already seen a 10 percent increase in the number of companies registered from 39 different countries compared to the previous year’s deadline.

Country pavilions this year will include Brazil (gamescom partner country 2023), Belgium, Canada, China, France, Great Britain, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Spain, South Korea and the USA.

However, the organizers have not yet revealed which exhibitors have already announced their participation in the fair. This will be announced at a later date, they say.

“Without going into detail, I promise that the community can look forward to one or the other large company, which last year still suspended. At the same time, we already have well-known market leaders from the new exhibitor segments announced for 2023 – such as streaming or table top games – on board,” says Oliver Frese, Managing Director and COO of Koelnmesse.

The increased interest in the early booking phase should, of course, ideally also attract large companies and so it is hoped that many well-known publishers and developer studios will be represented at gamescom 2023.

However, it will probably be quite a while before they confirm or cancel their participation. Last year, most of the cancellations only arrived around a month before the start of the trade fair, after many visitors had already booked their tickets.
