IFA 2022: Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 3 business notebook

IFA time is technology time. And somehow you get the feeling that the tradition-steeped consumer electronics show has risen like Phoenix from the ashes after its forced break from Corona. After all, this year’s tech trade show in Berlin features a whole host of tech highlights from a wide range of industries. Whether smart-home gadgets like the intercom system Ring Intercon or highlights from consumer electronics like the brand-new laser projector from Leica – there was a lot to admire in the capital. Since the topic of home offices is also of increasing importance, many exhibitors also showed new notebooks. With the Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 3, a new launch also finds its way directly onto store shelves.

Saturated performance for demanding workday

Lenovo’s IFA portfolio is remarkable. For example, the popular manufacturer presented the second generation of its foldable notebook ThinkPad X1 Fold. The Chinese company again enters familiar territory with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 3. However, the new notebook is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. After all, the most modern and powerful hardware slumbers under the rather inconspicuous but really chic casing. The heart of the top configuration is the AMD Ryzen 9 6000 H. It is supported by up to 32 GB dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM. With up to 2 TB of storage, there should also be enough memory for documents.

The promising Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 optionally provides fancy graphics. Lenovo unfortunately doesn’t use OLED for the display, despite other top hardware. Instead, you have the choice between two different IPS panels that measure 16 inches and offer a resolution of 2.5K. The standard version offers a brightness of 400 nits and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The better equipped version features 500 nits and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. HDR400 with VESA certification is supposed to provide good contrasts. A battery with a total of 71 Wh is supposed to provide battery life. The connectivity is also prepared for the modern working world. Besides Wi-Fi 6, there is HDMI, USB-A and USB-C.
