IO Hawk Sparrow 2: New e-tretroller with 500 watts and 90 km range

The IO Hawk Sparrow 2 is an exciting new e-stretcher for the city. Shortly after the Legacy earlier this month, the manufacturer now introduced a new, city-ready model with a 500-watt motor and up to 90 km range.

The IO Hawk Sparrow 2 in detail

Krefeld, Germany-based IO Hawk has unveiled another new e-scooter. The IO Hawk Sparrow 2 aims to combine a classy design with sportiness and is said to be ideal for the city. It relies on a brushless 500-watt motor, which is also intended to master steep inclines and hill climbs.

10-inch off-road tires ensure good handling characteristics and a high level of comfort, even in rough terrain. Also on offer is innovative and particularly smooth acceleration.

The motor switches on very gently once the scooter has been made to roll with the foot. The acceleration is easily controlled via the thumb throttle on the handlebars of the Sparrow 2.

There are two battery variants with 15 Ah or 20 Ah to choose from for the e-tretroller, which in combination with the 48 V system ensures a range of up to 67.5 km and 90 km respectively – always depending on the motor assistance and the terrain, of course.

Smart features and safety

The IO Hawk Sparrow 2 also relies on smart features. On the handlebars is the LED display that provides information on riding speed, battery level and Bluetooth connectivity. It also has an integrated sunshade and is therefore easy to read even in direct sunlight.

The Sparrow 2’s three different speed modes for 6 km/h, 15 km/h or 20 km/h can also be set directly on the handlebars. The scooter can also be linked to the IO HAWK app, which opens up additional setting options.

For example, the e-scooter can be locked to protect it from unauthorized access. A lock is also seamlessly integrated directly into the frame. It is also possible to set the driving modes, navigation or a route tracking.

Of course, driving safety also plays an important role. For full braking control and a safe stopping distance, the disc brakes on the front and rear wheels provide. In addition, there is a powerful front light and a rear light including an integrated brake light. In addition, it has front turn signals that inform other road users of planned driving maneuvers.

Turn signals at the rear are also available as an optional extra at a cost of 100 euros. The turn signals from German manufacturer Kellermann are claimed to mark the brightest legal turn signals in Europe. The turn signals and the light are controlled quite conveniently via the control unit on the handlebars.

Foldable design

What’s more, the IO Hawk Sparrow 2 folds easily with just the push of a button, saving space when stowed in a car or for taking along on public transport.

To be able to take things with you yourself, the e-scooter offers a holder directly on the handlebars. It can carry a load of up to 20 kilograms and reliably carries your briefcase or shopping bag.

Price and availability

The IO Hawk Sparrow 2 e-scooter is available in black or white directly from the manufacturer. With the 15-ah battery, it has an MSRP of 889 euros; with the larger 20-ah battery, it costs 989 euros. Pre-orderers also get a 60 euro discount on the Sparrow 2.
