MSI Modern AM272: New all-in-one PCs with powerful hardware announced

With the new all-in-one PCs of the MSI Modern AM272 series, the manufacturer wants to convince business users with powerful hardware and reliable security features. The chic and slim AiO solutions come with a 12th generation Intel Core i7 CPU.

MSI Modern AM272 series in detail

The MSI Modern AM272 series was announced at the end of May, but still lacked some details. These are now delivered. The chic and simple white design of the AiO PC series brings back memories of the Apple iMac, but the AM272P 12M is also available in black.

An Intel Core i7 CPU of the 12th generation and Iris Xe graphics slumber under the hood of the slim computer, which should also be able to cope with demanding tasks. Specifically, according to the product website, the series is optionally available with the Intel Core i7-1260P or the Intel Core i5-1240P.

Ex-factory, the i7 models are equipped with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode, whereas the i5 AiOs are equipped with 8 GB of RAM. All variants can also be expanded to a maximum of 64 GB RAM. In addition, there is 1 TB or 512 GB SSD storage in M.2 2280 format.

Additional flexibility is also provided by the Instant Display feature, which can be used to add another monitor, and the MSI Center app, which delivers additional customizable AI features.

Focus on security

For video conferencing or calls, the full HD webcam comes into play, perched at the top of the display above the AiOs. It also offers biometric login via Windows Hello and can be covered with a physical shutter to protect privacy.

Combined with Tobii Aware’s biometrics login tool, security is further enhanced. For example, it offers a privacy shutter where the contents of the screen are blurred when someone looks or moves away. The blur is removed only for the right user.

“In an era of increased remote working, information security is even more important, and with Tobii Aware’s smart features, we help users protect their data from unauthorized curious third parties,” reveals Ulrica Wikström, VP of PC at Tobii.

Once you leave your seat, the MSI Modern AM272 series also automatically locks up, while an “Aware” mode lets you know if someone is looking at your screen behind you. Included is an automatic or reaction-based screen blur feature to protect information in situations that require a high level of privacy.

Furthermore, fTPM 2.0 support protects the system and users’ data from attacks by malicious software.

Other features and ports

The 27-inch flat IPS panel of the MSI Modern AM272 series resolves in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and offers a maximum brightness of 300 nits, as well as a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. It can also be adjusted between 0 and 130 mm in height and tilted between -4 degrees and 20 degrees.

There is also an expansion slot on the back, where you can expand the system memory with 2.5 inch hard drives. The built-in stereo speakers offer DTS audio processing for lossless music and first-class sound quality.

There is also WLAN 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2 and quite a few ports: two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, two USB 2.0 Type A, a combined 3.5 mm jack, one HDMI 2.0, one VGA and one RJ45 LAN port.

You can also find all information about the MSI Modern AM272 series once again in detail on the manufacturer’s product website. However, MSI did not mention details about the prices and availability. The All-in-One-PC MSI PRO AP241Z 5M was already introduced at the beginning of May.
