Samsung OH24B outdoor display with 1,500 nits and Magic Glass presented

With the Samsung OH24B Outdoor Display, the manufacturer has introduced a new outdoor display that is not affected by weather conditions and has a brightness of 1,500 nits and a special Magic Glass coating. Among other things, it is intended for use at gas stations or charging stations.

Samsung has now unveiled an outstandingly readable display for outdoor use, with IP66 certification and innovative Magic Glass coating in the form of the Samsung OH24B Outdoor Display . The display is intended for outdoor use at gas stations, charging stations or on cruise ships, for example. It is designed for 24/7 continuous operation and is particularly robust.

A display brightness of 1,500 nits with a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 is offered, which Samsung wants to use to ensure that the displays are always easy to read – even in direct sunlight.

An IPS panel is used as the display standard, which is correspondingly stable in viewing angles. “With the integrated brightness sensors, the display brightness automatically adjusts to the ambient light and can thus help save energy,” says the manufacturer.

For long-term use, the display must of course be able to withstand extreme weather conditions. In the case of the 24-inch OH24B, operation is guaranteed at -30 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius. Ventilation and cooling is controlled via an integrated temperature sensor.

Magic Glass improves readability

Also used in the Samsung OH24B Outdoor Display is an innovative Magic Glass coating, which prevents reflections when wearing polarizing sunglasses, for example.

In addition, the display has an anti-graffiti coating to be immune to vandalism and offers IK-10 impact resistance. An IP66 certification is also included, which protects the display against dust ingress, water jets, and more.

Nevertheless, the display frame of the OH24B is only 21.9 mm wide. Overall, the outdoor display has a total depth of 59.8 mm, which is why it can be used for various purposes according to the manufacturer.

Another example, besides gas stations or cruise ships, is the use at drive-in counters: “So that the order at the drive-in counter can be processed without any disturbing noise, special low-noise fans are installed in the Samsung OH24B for device cooling.”

Thanks to Samsung Tizen 6.5 as well as the MagicINFO Player, content from the Internet can be displayed. In addition, the display has HDMI, USB and LAN ports and can be easily mounted via a VESA mount. Connecting an external Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module is also possible via the USB port, which expands the field of application.

Samsung plans to offer the OH24B Outdoor Display on the German market starting in January 2023. It is quite possible that we will already see the new and bright panel in use later this year.
