Sony releases Xperia Pro with HDMI port in Japan

With the Xperia Pro, Sony launches a smartphone in its home country that should especially appeal to camera enthusiasts. The reason is not only the integrated HDMI port. If you are interested in the perfect smartphone for Sony camera users, you will have to pay the equivalent of 1,800 Euros, which is a considerable purchase price.

Anything but ordinary

The Xperia Pro by no means swims with the flow of other devices on the smartphone market. Quite the contrary. Sony has presented not only a new, but above all an unusual smartphone here. According to the company, it is aimed at professional users of a camera from the in-house Alpha series. The smartphone is not only supposed to shine with a lot of performance. On top of that, it complements the camera’s functions in a practical way.

Among other things, it should be possible to use it as an additional display and extended control element for the camera. The integrated mini HDMI port is supposed to make it possible. With its help, you can conveniently connect the smartphone to the camera and benefit from the features. On top of that, you can use the smartphone’s USB port to transfer photos you’ve just taken directly to the smartphone.

Not only suitable for photo excursions

However, the smartphone also has a lot to offer aside from its practicality for camera owners. In terms of hardware, it is almost identical in construction to the Xperia 1 II. On top of that, 5G is on board. Sony also gives the Xperia Pro more working memory and storage space. In addition to 12 GB of RAM, a 512 GB flash storage provides space for many photos. The two separate buttons should also be practical. The user should be able to assign them individually.

Like the Xperia 1 II, the Xperia Pro looks at a colorful OLED screen that measures 6.5 inches and resolves at 3,840 x 1,644 pixels. The Snapdragon 865 from Qualcomm is also included. Users who do not only want to take pictures with their Sony Alpha but also with the Xperia Pro can use the built-in triple camera. The 4,000 mAh battery should be able to provide long battery runtimes.

Price and availability

Sony is letting the dream for Sony Alpha owners cost quite a bit – At least in Japan. There, the manufacturer is calling for 228,000 yen. This corresponds to about 1,800 Euros. Unfortunately, we do not yet know whether Sony plans to launch the smartphone outside of Japan. Considering the huge competition the company faces in the smartphone sector worldwide, this seems rather unlikely, though. We will keep you up to date.
