Synology presents BC500 and TC500 surveillance cameras

Synology wants to conquer a completely new market field. The expert for modern network solutions has presented two new camera series, the BC500 and TC500. The weatherproof bullet and turret cameras are not only supposed to impress with a very good image quality, but also offer “advanced AI functions”. Let’s take a look at the new launches.

Synology BC500 and TC500 come with AI features

So far, we actually know Synology mainly from the production of NAS products for the private, but also business sector. Now the company has apparently set its sights on the surveillance camera market. The manufacturer equips the BC500 and TC500 each with a 5-megapixel sensor.

This is supposed to enable a resolution of 2,880 x 1,620 pixels. Smooth moving images are again ensured by 30 FPS. In order to keep an overview at all times, the two cameras also offer a viewing angle of 110 degrees. The cameras can be used both indoors and outdoors without any problems. This is ensured by IP67 dirt and water protection.

The night vision feature is also particularly cool. Thus, the cameras should not be able to miss anything up to a distance of 30 meters. In turn, multi-exposure HDR is supposed to significantly improve the recognizability on the surveillance image. The biggest selling point, however, is likely to be the smart AI functions of the BC500 and TC500.

If the cameras detect any abnormalities during their work, they should be able to interpret them independently and issue a warning accordingly. In doing so, they offer AI-assisted recognition of vehicles and people. The Instant Search feature also simplifies the search for specific recordings and surveillance areas. Due to its special features, the two cameras are said to be particularly suitable for monitoring large-scale areas.
