The Hong Kong-based manufacturer Tineco is mainly known for (smart) cordless vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners and wet vacuums. Scope of delivery and assembly

  • the scope of delivery includes not only many brushes and nozzles…
  • … but also a second battery and a wall mount
  • Easy and quick assembly

Tineco delivers the Pure One S11 Tango EX in a relatively compact brown cardboard box. Upon opening, we look at the gray metallic suction tube and three other smaller boxes that show the parts contained within. Parts that are not or only rarely needed can thus be easily stowed away again in their intended place. The scope of delivery is very extensive and contains, in addition to the cordless vacuum cleaner itself, a variety of brushes and nozzles, as well as other accessories.

The setup of the Pure One S11 Tango EX turns out to be very simple. The dust bin and filter system are already inserted into the handheld, so it only needs to be plugged together with the suction tube and the required attachment. The parts audibly click into place when plugged together.

While Tineco relies on a docking station for the floor in other models, such as the Pure One Air Pro, it relies on a wall mount in the Pure One S11 Tango EX. This is attached to the wall with two screws and offers space for the cordless vacuum cleaner as well as three attachments. The battery is automatically charged as soon as the Pure One S11 Tango EX is in the wall mount, and there is also a charging option for a second battery at the top of the wall mount.

Design and workmanship of the Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX

  • Very modern design and good workmanship
  • Mainly made of plastic, suction tube made of metal
  • Display shows the pollution and possible problems

The design of the Tinceo Pure One S11 Tango EX is very modern, but also restrained. It can thus be integrated visually well into the home. The hand part is gray to black and transparent in many places, so you can see the inside of the battery vacuum. This also applies to the batteries. The various attachments and the wall mount, on the other hand, are predominantly white. Plastic is used as the material for both the cordless vacuum cleaner itself and the accessories, but it leaves a high-quality impression. The dark gray and slightly shiny suction tube is made of metal. The buttons of the cordless vacuum cleaner have a pleasant pressure point and the workmanship is very good throughout. Everything fits as it should, nothing creaks and we didn’t notice any sharp edges, minor flaws or uncleanliness.

The round display of the Pure One S11 Tango EX informs about the detected amount of dust or dirt and indicates any problems. When there is little dust, the dust control ring on the edge of the display is blue, the more dust there is, the more the ring turns purple or then red. In the center of the display, three symbols arranged next to each other indicate possible problems. Viewed from left to right, these light up when the brush roll is tangled, the air duct is blocked or the dust sensor is defective. There is also a WiFi symbol above it. Unfortunately, we look for a battery status indicator here in vain, three LEDs show the rough battery status directly on the battery.

Operation

  • Simple operation via only two buttons, power button with caps lock
  • Two modes: automatic and maximum suction
  • Tineco app for more settings, cleaning information and statistics

The compact handset weighs 1580 g with battery. The power button is easy to reach and easy to operate. The Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX also has a switch that permanently operates the power button. Due to the iLoop Smart Sensor technology, which automatically adjusts the suction power to the level of dirt, Tineco does not use different power levels. The suction power selected via iLoop can be read on the aforementioned dust control ring. The color of the ring also changes during the cleaning process, which is completely blue again when the floor is clean. Furthermore, we find a button on the top that can be used to switch between automatic and maximum suction power, in case you need the battery vacuum’s full power for longer. After switching on, the auto mode is always selected.

Additional functions and settings via Tineco app

The smart battery vacuum cleaner is also compatible with the Tineco app. After launching the app, you need to create an account, select the type of device and then the device. The Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX is not listed separately, so you have to select the S11 Plus here. The app then guides you through the pairing process step by step.

After the successful pairing, more functions and settings are available for the cordless vacuum cleaner. The interface is uncluttered and includes the four tabs Cleaning Status, Battery, Filter and Dust Bin. The cleaning power tab contains the familiar dust control ring from the display, and you can also choose between auto, manual (15 levels) and maximum power for the suction power. The other tabs only contain a little information and show the battery status or when the filter or dust container needs to be cleaned. At the top right, you will also find a calendar icon that allows you to access cleaning statistics for the day, week, month or even the entire usage period.

In our opinion, the app is a nice gimmick, but its added value is rather low. Most users will probably trust the iLoop smart sensor technology or select the maximum suction power in case of heavy soiling instead of fine-tuning via the app. However, we find the reminder to clean the filter practical, as it is often put off or even forgotten.

Practical test of the Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX

  • Very good cleaning performance
  • Flexible to use, also as a hand vacuum
  • iLoop smart sensor technology reliably adjusts suction power

Now let’s move on to the most important thing, the cleaning performance. The Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX performed very well on laminate, tile and also carpet with the LED multifunction brush. The LED hard floor brush, which is also included, also achieved very good cleaning results, but we mainly used the multifunctional brush for comfort reasons. The other attachments were also convincing in the test. With the mini turbo brush, the wide 2-in-1 dust brush and the narrow crevice nozzles, Tineco probably covers the most important applications. Conveniently, the cordless vacuum cleaner can also be used, without suction tube, as a hand vacuum, which is very helpful, for example, when vacuuming the bed and couch with the mini turbo brush.

Good cleaning performance and reliable dust sensor

The floors were cleaned quickly, reliably and thoroughly thanks to the high suction power and also the direct drive. The iLoop Smart Sensor technology was also convincing in this regard. While this selected a low power level on laminate and tiles that were only lightly soiled, a higher power level was reliably selected automatically for heavier soiling or even carpets. The adjustment was made quickly and reliably, so that soiling was removed directly and we did not have to drive over these areas several times. Thanks to the LED lighting, dust and dirt are also not overlooked, even in sparsely lit areas.

We found it pleasant to use due to the low weight, rubberized rollers and good maneuverability. Only under furniture did the battery-powered vacuum show slight weaknesses. The design of the multifunctional brush means that it no longer touches the floor quite early when the angle becomes more acute. If you want to vacuum further under the bed, for example, you have to hold the handpiece at an angle.

We achieved a battery runtime of 10 minutes at maximum suction power, but the second battery allows the user to continue vacuuming immediately afterwards. In auto mode, the battery life is considerably longer; Tineco states up to 60 minutes.

Easy cleaning of attachments and filters

The dust bin of the Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX holds up to 600 ml and can be opened directly by pressing a button above the trash can. It is not necessary to remove it from the handpiece. Furthermore, the brushes and filters must be cleaned regularly. A tool for removing hair from the brushes, one for cleaning the pre-filter and another pre-filter are included. The mesh filter and the HEPA filter can be rinsed out under running water and then have to dry for up to 24 hours. Cleaning is definitely user-friendly.

Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX Test: Conclusion

The Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX turns out to be a very good cordless vacuum cleaner in the test. Among other things, Tineco convinces with a modern and appealing design, very good workmanship and practical features, such as LED lighting. The cleaning performance can convince on all floors and also when used as a hand vacuum. Thanks to the iLoop Smart Sensor technology, the required suction power is also reliably determined and adjusted to save the battery. The scope of delivery of the cordless vacuum cleaner is very extensive and offers a charging station, a second battery and other accessories in addition to a variety of attachments.

However, we are a bit disappointed by the display and the information displayed on it. Despite enough space, it only shows the dust control ring and a Wi-Fi icon, but not the battery status, unless problems occur. It would be desirable that Tineco makes better use of this in the future instead of outsourcing such information to an app. However, this is only a minor issue and the positive impressions of the Pure One S11 Tango EX very clearly outweigh it.

88/100

Powerful battery-powered vacuum cleaner with very extensive accessories. Unfortunately, the display's potential is not exploited.
