In addition to Samsung, which presented new gaming monitors with a exceptionally strong curvature at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Asus, in cooperation with Nvidia, also presented a world premiere at the trade fair. This is a 24.5-inch Asus ROG monitor that offers a refresh rate of 360 Hz thanks to a new Nvidia G-Sync generation. The monitor is thus particularly suitable for ambitious eSports enthusiasts. Other manufacturers will also offer correspondingly fast monitors in the future.
The resolution of the 24.5-inch monitor is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD). Higher resolutions are unnecessary in any case, because otherwise even current gaming systems cannot consistently achieve the necessary 360 frames per second in many titles. Nvidia and Asus, who worked closely together in the development of the new monitor, state that in internal tests the accuracy of flick-shots was increased by another four percent in comparison to 240 Hz monitors. Compared to a 60 Hz monitor, the accuracy is even 37 percent higher.
According to Nvidia, the newly developed panel is manufactured by AU Optronics. Jerking and tearing as well as flickering of the image are also suppressed at 360 Hz thanks to the synchronized, variable refresh rate of the new G-Sync version. The design of the monitor is based on other devices of the ROG series and is particularly noticeable due to the rotated stand with three legs. Picture sources can be connected via DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0.
Neither Asus nor Nvidia released when and at what price the monitor will be launched on the market during the fair.
