Schenker VIA 15 Pro and Work series: New notebooks officially presented

Exciting new notebooks from Schenker. With the Schenker VIA 15 Pro, you can expect an ultrabook weighing only 1.45 kg with an efficient AMD Ryzen 7 5700U 8-core CPU, while the updated WORK series switches to the current Intel Alder Lake P processor series with the 15 and 17 models.

Schenker VIA 15 Pro (M22) in detail

The new Schenker VIA 15 Pro (M22) ultrabook weighs just 1.45 kg and has features that are usually only found in much heavier gaming notebooks. Among them, for example, the powerful and efficient AMD Ryzen 7 5700U CPU with eight cores and 16 threads, which is even allowed to work with 35 watts TDP in the highest performance profile (Enthusiast) and that for a long time.

Schenker promises a multi-score of 3937 points in the Cinebench R20 benchmark, which marks an excellent value for an ultrabook. The laptop’s dual-fan cooling system was adopted from the 2020 predecessor of the VIA 15 Pro and is thus designed for less efficient CPUs from the 54-Watt TDP class. Thus, the Ryzen 7 should be cooled confidently and quietly even under permanent load.

Practical: The notebook’s performance profile can also be easily switched during use via a shortcut key on the keyboard. In “Balanced” mode, the new VIA 15 Pro is supposed to get down to business particularly quietly.

Features and display

The ultrabook measures 356.4 x 233.7 x 16.8 mm and relies on a lightweight case made of an AZ91D magnesium alloy (display lid, upper shell) and aluminum (lower shell). Nevertheless, the manufacturer installs a battery with a capacity of 91 watt hours.

In addition, there are two SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB DDR-3200 RAM in dual-channel mode and two M.2 slots with fast PCI Express 4.0 connectivity, which enable an easy upgrade. For the display, a new WQHD IPS panel (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) with a refresh rate of 165 Hz is used. It reaches a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m² and offers a 95% coverage of the sRGB color space.

The new Schenker VIA 15 Pro (M22) also improves noticeably in terms of connectivity. A USB-C port with PowerDelivery and DisplayPort stream is offered. Besides an HDMI 2.0 output with HDCP support, the laptop also has three USB ports of type A, a microSD card reader, a combo port for headset and microphone as well as Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6.

The overall package is rounded off by a webcam on the top of the display, a large Microsoft Precision touchpad and a keyboard with multi-level adjustable white backlight.

Schenker WORK 15 & WORK 17 (M22) with 12th generation Intel Core

The office notebooks Schenker WORK 15 and WORK 17, which were introduced last year, also receive an upgrade with the M22 model generation. The manufacturer now equips them with Intel Alder Lake P processors of the 12th Core generation. The Core i7-1260P and the Core i5-1250P with four performance and eight efficiency cores as well as 16 threads are available.

Above all, multi-thread computing performance is supposed to benefit noticeably from this, while graphics calculations use the multimedia features of the integrated Intel Xe graphics unit.

Both laptops feature two SO-DIMM sockets for up to 64 GB of plugged-in DDR4-3200 RAM as well as two M.2 SSD slots, one of them even with fast PCI Express 4.0 connectivity.

Features and Displays

Both notebooks naturally differ in terms of display size. Thus, the WORK 15 relies on 15.6 inches, whereas the WORK 17 relies on 17.3 inches. Both models have the viewing-angle-stable Full HD IPS panel in common, which covers almost 90 percent of the sRGB color space and works flicker-free thanks to PWM control.

The displays can be opened by up to 130 degrees, whereby the bottom edge also serves as a stand and raises the laptop by 8.3 mm in the case of the WORK 15 and 12 mm in the case of the WORK 17, which improves cooling. In addition, the keyboard with white backlight is thus slightly slanted and enables particularly comfortable inputs.

Both the WORK 15 (357 x 220.5 x 19.9 mm, 1.7 kg) and the WORK 17 (357.5 x 238 x 19.8 mm, 2.25 kg) use an aluminum display lid and bottom shell. The battery of both notebooks holds 73 watt hours.

Especially for business users, the WORK series offers a range of security features. These include a hardware-based TPM 2.0 module, a Kensington lock and a Windows-Hello-compatible webcam. A fingerprint scanner is also found in the touchpad of the 15 model. In return, the touchpad of the 17.3-inch model turns out particularly generous with a gliding surface of 15 x 9 cm.

In terms of ports and connectivity, the notebooks rely on Thunderbolt 4 with an integrated DisplayPort stream, three USB ports including USB-C 3.2 Gen2, an HDCP-enabled HDMI slot, a 2-in-1 audio port for headset and microphone, a microSD card reader, as well as Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6.

Prices and Availability

As always, Schenker’s notebooks are freely configurable on bestware.com. The base version of the Schenker VIA 15 Pro (M22) features the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, 8 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, a 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD, and a 165 Hz WQHD IPS display. Here it goes starting at 1,249 euros.

The Schenker WORK 15 and WORK 17 (M22) models rely on Intel’s Core i5-1250P, 8 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, a 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD and a Full HD IPS display in the base configuration. Here, prices start at 1,149 euros for the 15 model and. 1,179 euros for the WORK 17. Component upgrades are available for an additional charge in each case. On the manufacturer’s side, all laptops come with a 36-month warranty.
