Signify announces new Philips Hue series products

If you want to enrich your home with smart lighting, you can hardly do without the Philips Hue series. Now, manufacturer Signify is providing new additions to the popular smart home series. After the company has already launched two new outdoor lights in February of this year, even more products are now coming. In addition to a practical track system in the form of the “Perifo,” special bathroom and bedroom lights as well as a multifunctional switch called “Philips Hue Tap-Dial” are going on sale. We take a closer look at the new launches.

Philips Hue Perifo: Practical rail system

By linking several Philips Hue lights at once, chic lighting scenarios can be created. Signify has probably developed its rail system Perifo especially for this purpose. The rails can be connected to different constructs. In particular, the installation of a ceiling construction should be simplified. The track system, available in black or white, is supposed to be available for pendant lights, light bars, spots or gradient light tubes and has different sizes. In addition, one should have the choice between a mounting on the ceiling or wall. Also with the connection one can choose. The Perifo systems can be connected to a classic socket or a typical lamp connection. The Perifo systems are scheduled for launch at the end of summer 2022. Signify has also already commented on the first sets and their prices.

For example, a set with three pendant lights and matching rails is said to cost 650 euros. Those who prefer smaller spots can buy a set of four including rails for a hefty 750 euros. The premium models, as of now, are the Lightbar with three spots and the Gradient Tube wall lamp. These are to cost a whopping 800 euros. Alternatively one is to be able to use the Perifo rail system also modularly and arrange itself so its own lighting system. Signify charges 50 euros for the basic track system. Several of the rails can be combined with each other with the help of a connector. These are said to cost 20 euros. For a Perifo-compatible light, another 120 euros will be charged.

Philips Hue Go table lamp

Signify is relaunching the Hue Go on top of that. The popular battery-powered smart lamp from 2015 is now to celebrate its relaunch as a practical table lamp. Since the portable lamp is also supposed to be protected against water and dirt according to IP54 standard, it is even suitable for outdoor use. Thanks to a battery life of up to 48 hours, as Signify promises, you shouldn’t have to recharge the battery too often. The new handle, which is supposed to be made of silicone, also looks really practical.

This one makes it clear right away that the Hue Go table lamp really wants to be carried around. A handy button on the lamp lets you choose between different lighting scenarios. Signify wants to charge 150 Euros for the smart table lamp. We’ll see if it’s really worth it in the summer of 2022, when the Philips Hue Go table lamp will be launched.

Many more lights

On top of that, Signify has announced several lights that should probably be perfect for use in bedrooms and bathrooms. For one, there’s the “Gradient Signe Oak.” This is to be available in two different versions. On the one hand, Signify wants to bring out the wood-look lamp as a floor lamp. On the other hand one would like to bring it as table lamp to the start.

Here, Signify seems to have in mind a combination of two table lamps for the bedside cabinets and a floor lamp for the rest of the bedroom. At a price of 240 euros for the table lamp and 350 euros for the floor lamp, however, this is likely to be expensive bedroom lighting. In the bathroom, the well-known Philips Hue Xamento series is to be used. This is now experiencing a new edition and offers different models. On the one hand, there are practical spots that can be installed in the ceiling, for example.

These are said to have a unit price of 80 euros. Since you will need several anyway, you can also go for the set of 3 at a price of 220 euros. Those who prefer a ceiling light for bathroom lighting may find what they are looking for with the matching model from the new Xamento range. This is said to cost 220 euros. The new lamps for bathrooms and bedrooms will be available from today, June 21, 2022.

One switch for classic operation

While the look of Philips Hue lighting solutions is beyond reproach, the control is a different story. Many are tired of the often cumbersome operation via smartphone and long for a classic light switch back. Signify apparently wants to reach exactly this target group with its Philips Hue Tap Dial switch. Here, the simplicity of a classic light switch is combined with the diverse setting options of the app. In order to be able to adjust as much of the lighting as possible, four buttons are available on the switch itself. These can be assigned different functions. If you want to regulate the light intensity, you can also use a rotary control that is available next to the buttons.

The practical switch, which can be optionally attached to surfaces made of metal thanks to integrated magnets or to normal surfaces via wall mount, is said to cost 50 euros. Last but not least, Signify has also announced that it plans to revamp the smartphone app for Philips Hue lighting products. In particular, they want to add new sceneries that will mimic a sunrise, for example. You can access the new Philips Hue products via the official website. If Philips’ models are too expensive for you, you can check out the new Signify WiZ line-up, which was released a few days ago.
