The cat is out of the bag. After the launch of the new flagship smartphone Motorola X30 Pro had to be postponed on short notice, the manufacturer has finally unveiled the new device. The X30 Pro, which will be released here as Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, relies on a main camera with a resolution of 200 megapixels, a 144 Hz display and a charging speed of 125 watts – for the equivalent of around 500 euros.
The Motorola X30 Pro in detail
Finally, the Motorola X30 Pro is official, which the manufacturer has just unveiled in China. Much had, at least in broad strokes, already leaked out in the run-up. Now, solid details are finally available.
The X30 Pro is based on the current and frugal Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is supported by 8 GB or 12 GB of working memory, as well as 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 3.1 system storage.
The smartphone measures 161.7 mm x 73.5 mm x 8.39 mm and weighs 198.5 grams. The back is protected by Corning Gorilla Fifth Generation Glass. When it comes to the display, Motorola installs a 6.67-inch IPS panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 hertz, which supports HDR10+, fully covers the DCI-P3 color space, and reaches a peak brightness of 1,250 nits.
The battery of the Motorola X30 Pro has a capacity of 4,450 mAh and can be charged quickly via USB Type-C with a maximum of 125 watts. Wireless charging, on the other hand, is possible with a maximum of 50 watts. If you charge with a cable, the smartphone is fully charged from 0 to 50 percent in just 7 minutes.
As expected, the X30 Pro positions itself as a camera flagship above Motorola’s previous top model Edge 30 Pro. The smartphone’s flagship is the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor in 1/1.22-inch format, which brings it to a resolution of an incredible 200 megapixels – a record for a smartphone. The aperture of f/1.95 is not quite as open as in some competitors.
In addition, there is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera including macro mode, as well as a 12 MP telephoto camera with an open aperture of f/1.6. All cameras also rely on a focal length that is rather unusual for smartphones, but is common in the camera segment:
The main camera comes with a 50 mm equivalent, while the ultra-wide-angle camera is not quite as “ultra” wide-angle with a focal length of 35 mm. The telephoto lens, on the other hand, is ideal for portraits with a focal length of 85 mm.
The triple setup on the back garnishes the X30 Pro with a selfie camera with a resolution of 60 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.2, which sits in a centrally placed punch hole.
The equipment is rounded off by an in-display fingerprint sensor, a waterproof casing, WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and 5G support. No details were given about NFC and the Bluetooth standard so far.
