Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 test: design and workmanship

  • Simple, elegant design
  • Robust housing
  • Good workmanship; display bounces

A kind of wolf in sheep’s clothing awaits you with the inconspicuous Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023, which hides a lot of performance under its simple hood. But let’s start with the design first.

The ultrabook has a discreet, matt black (or alternatively silver) magnesium chassis with a shiny manufacturer’s logo on the display lid. A good choice, as fingerprints on the casing are virtually invisible.

With a height of around 17 millimeters when closed, the laptop underpins its position in the ultrabook segment and weighs just under 1.6 kilograms despite its powerful hardware.

The focus here is clearly on flexibility. The very compact and lightweight power supply unit also contributes to this, providing a full 180 watts of power despite its dimensions of 120 mm x 20 mm and a weight of 313 grams.

Schenker only places the fan outlets on the underside of the case and the lack of RGB lighting also underlines the discreet, office-ready approach. Four generous, rubberized feet ensure a secure hold on tables and other surfaces, while the case can be opened quickly and easily using a total of nine Phillips screws.

The maintenance options of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 are unusually good for an ultrabook. The tidy interior can be equipped or upgraded with RAM in two SO-DIMMs and two M.2 2280 SSDs.

The build quality is also very good. The notebook appears robust and of high quality, only the thin and light display lid bounces visibly. However, this is not really annoying.

Equipment and connections

  • Modern equipment at gaming notebook level
  • Extremely configurable
  • Wi-Fi 6 only

As always with Schenker, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 can also be configured extensively at bestware. Our test model with this configuration has a price tag of around 2,600 euros. For this, the manufacturer has put together an absolutely coherent overall package.

On the CPU side, the Intel Core i7-13700H is used, which combines 14 cores with 20 threads and clock speeds of up to 5,000 MHz. The ultrabook uses the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with 8 GB VRAM and a TGP of 95 watts.

32 GB DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode is installed, but you can theoretically pre-configure 64 GB RAM at the factory. For the SSD, our test model relies on the fast PCIe 4.0 solution Samsung 990 Pro with 1 TB of storage space, although up to 4 terabytes are also possible here.

The equipment is rounded off by an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module with Bluetooth 5.2 and a Windows Hello-compatible webcam with Full HD quality. The stereo speakers achieve an excellent maximum volume and a convincing sound. The integrated microphone with noise suppression is fine.

The webcam has Full HD resolution and allows login via Windows Hello.

The connections of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023

  • Many modern connections
  • Only one Thunderbolt 4
  • Full-size SD card reader (albeit with moderate speed)

Despite the very compact chassis, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 comes with a whole range of modern connections.

On the left side, we find a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 and a USB-C Gen 2×1 port in addition to the Kensington lock. The latter supports image output via DisplayPort 1.4a, but is not able to provide power via PowerDelivery.

There is also a full-size SD card reader and a combined 3.5 mm jack connection. Unfortunately, the card reader only achieves average speeds, but it’s still nice to have.

On the right is the power port, one HDMI 2.0b, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, as well as a Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort and PowerDelivery function, which can be used to charge the Ultrabook with up to 100 watts.

Keyboard and trackpad

  • Full-size keyboard with illumination
  • Very large, precise touchpad

The biggest weak point of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 – which isn’t really a weak point – is the keyboard. The manufacturer has installed a full-size chiclet keyboard, i.e. including the number pad, which has a smaller Enter key but full-size arrow keys.

The keyboard is of a high standard in terms of typing and writing feel. It’s not bad by any means, but we’ve seen better. What I really like, however, is that Schenker makes full use of the space in the chassis and leaves a pleasant amount of space between the keys despite the full-size layout.

The keyboard also has dimmable white key illumination, which can be completely deactivated if desired. The Microsoft Precision glass touchpad is also pleasantly generous, offering plenty of space at 154 mm x 100 mm and is pleasantly smooth to use.

Display of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023

  • WQHD+ with 240 Hz
  • Good contrast values and color reproduction
  • Brightness could be higher

I really like the display of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023. The manufacturer uses a matte IPS panel with a WQHD+ resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz.

This makes the fast and high-resolution panel ideal for competitive games. However, if you prefer, you can also reduce the frame rate to 60 Hz to save battery power.

The screen scores with a decent color reproduction, IPS-typical good contrasts and a high viewing angle stability. However, with a peak brightness of around 360 cd/m², it could be a little difficult to read under direct sunlight.

It appears to be the same display that was used in the XMG Neo 16 E23 (our test), for example. A thoroughly good screen, but of course it can’t keep up with the MiniLED and OLED panels out there.

A HP OMEN Transcend 16-u0095ng (our test), for example, is clearly ahead here, but also costs a good deal more.

The Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 in a practical test

  • Excellent system performance
  • Mostly quiet fans; but quite loud under load
  • Useful control center

The Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 surprised me positively in practice. It should be clear that the ultrabook can deliver a lot of performance due to the components installed. The laptop cuts a very good figure both in gaming mode and as a mobile workstation and copes excellently with demanding games as well as crisp multitasking workflows.

However, the Vision 16 Pro masters all of this at a very low volume, which even some significantly more powerful notebooks cannot achieve. Of course, even the ultrabook can get quite loud under continuous load – around 52 dB(A) at its peak – but the device works pleasantly quietly during many everyday and more intensive tasks.

The fact that the fans have a lot to do under continuous load is of course also reflected in the temperature development. During intensive gaming, the upper area of the keyboard gets quite warm over a longer period of time, but the Vision 16 Pro does not get excessively hot.

The FN key combination can be used to switch between two performance profiles: Quiet limits the performance, but also reduces the volume by an average of 10 dB(A). The Enthusiast profile, on the other hand, calls up the maximum possible power.

The supplied Control Center app also proves to be practical. Here, for example, the performance profiles can be adjusted, the display calibrated or the charging profile for the battery set. You can also call up information about the installed components and keep an eye on utilization and temperatures.

Benchmark: Productivity, system, SSD and gaming

Now that we have clarified the theoretical and practical aspects, it’s time to get down to business. How does the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 perform in the benchmarks? Again, I have looked at this in detail in various tests.

I measure the productivity and system performance with PCMark 10 and Cinebench R23. PCMark 10 simulates different workflows when running the benchmark, which include word processing, surfing the Internet and spreadsheets. Cinebench, on the other hand, measures the speed of the CPU cores individually and in multi-core mode.

In addition to the synthetic benchmark 3DMark, various games such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy XV are also used for the gaming tests. I used the Enthusiast performance profile for all measured values.

SSD benchmark: AS-SSD

The Samsung 990 Pro installed in the Vision 16 Pro delivers an impeccable result and performs at the level that can be expected from the PCIe 4 x4 SSD. With around 5,400 MB/s for sequential reading and 3,570 MB/s for writing, the storage delivers a rapid speed and scores with high 4K values and latencies.

Here, it is roughly on par with the XMG Neo 17 E23 (our test), which was equipped with the same SSD.

Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 AS-SSD

Cinebench R23 and PCMark 10

The Intel Core i7-13700H also delivers a decent speed and is roughly at the level you would expect. In Cinebench R23, the processor achieved 14,452 points in the multi-core test and 1,867 points in the single-core test.

The results in the comprehensive PCMark 10 benchmark are also interesting. After lagging noticeably behind the i7-13700HX (with 16 cores and higher clock rates) in terms of CPU performance, especially in the multi-core area, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 catches up noticeably in the system test.

Compared to the Gigabyte AORUS 15X (our test) with a similar configuration, the ultrabook from Schenker is only slightly behind.

Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 PCMark 10

In fact, it is even ahead in the demanding area of digital content creation, achieving 10,252 points compared to 9,712 points in Gigabyte’s gaming notebook. More than impressive, with a TGP of 95 watts compared to 140 watts.

Benchmark Result
Cinebench R23 Multi Core 14,452 pts
Cinebench R23 Single Core 1,867 pts
PCMark 10 total score 7,173 pts
PCMark 10 Essentials 10,572 pts
PCMark 10 Productivity 9,242 pts
PCMark 10 Digital Content Creation 10,252 pts

Graphics performance: 3DMark and gaming tests

A comparison with the Gigabyte model and the HP OMEN Transcend 16-u0095ng is also exciting in the gaming tests, as both are equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, but can fall back on a significantly higher TGP due to the larger chassis.

It is clear that the two higher clocked notebooks can tickle out more points or FPS here. Nevertheless, the Vision 16 Pro delivers a very good result, not only in view of its compact design.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for example, can still be played at 113 FPS in 1600p resolution, while Cyberpunk 2077 achieves a constant 78 FPS in native 1600p without ray tracing (with DLSS) – with ray tracing and DLSS, more than 60 frames per second are still possible. So yes, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 is absolutely suitable for gaming, despite its slim chassis.

Benchmark Result
Fire Strike Total 23,831 pts
Time Spy total 11,013 points
Port Royal total 6,555 pts
Speed Way total 2,687 pts
Solar Bay Total 44,446 pts
Cyberpunk 2077 – 1600p 78 fps (average)
Final Fantasy XV (High Quality) – 1080p 10,238 pts
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Ultra) – 1080p 140 fps
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Ultra) – 1600p 113 fps

And not just for a short time, the performance is also constantly available under continuous load. In the 3DMark Speed Way Stress test, the ultrabook achieved a score of 98.2 percent after 20 runs.

Battery life: Efficient and good

Thanks to the reduced graphics performance and the economical display, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 is pleasantly efficient. The manufacturer has succeeded in accommodating an 80 Wh battery in the casing, which is also replaceable.

In the PCMark 10 Office benchmark, we achieved a runtime of 4 hours and 55 minutes in the Enthusiast performance profile and at maximum display brightness. A very good value and significantly more than the already mentioned HP Omen 16, which only achieves 3 hours and 5 minutes despite its 97 Wh capacity.

Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023
The battery life of the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 is impressive

The runtime can of course be improved even further if you reduce the brightness, limit the refresh rate to 60 Hz or select the quiet performance profile. Changing the performance profile alone almost doubles the runtime to a very good 9 hours and 17 minutes.

Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 test: Conclusion

Hallelujah, the Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 really packs a punch. The wolf in sheep’s clothing that I have already mentioned fits like a glove. Basically, you get a gaming-ready ultrabook with plenty of power and a compact form factor at an almost unbeatable price.

The laptop doesn’t have any really glaring weaknesses. The display bounces a little, the SD card reader could be faster, Wi-Fi 6E would be nice-to-have and a MiniLED panel would of course be even nicer, but that would neither be possible without a significant surcharge nor with such a good battery life.

In return, you get a light and stable case, high-performance features, many modern connections and excellent maintenance options at a price that is several hundred euros below comparably equipped competitors.

The Schenker Vision 16 Pro 2023 delivers an absolutely coherent overall package. So if you are still looking for a portable and simple all-rounder, the device is definitely worth a look.
